Motion by Joel: That we allocate space on the LA mirror for VALA to upload content

Seconded: Wil Brown

Passed: 5 Ayes, one abstention

We’ve had previous requests for sponsorship, this year’s is better aligned with our objectives. Especially being in New Zealand.

Best fit seems to be the Travel Program and  the Women In Spatial or Travel Grant Breakfast

Motion by Joel Addison: That we sponsor the conference up to the value of NZD2,500

Seconded: Wil Brown

Passed unanimously

Jonathon will discuss the details with the organisers

  • WordPress Sunshine Coast  Insurance

Is in progress.

  • Social Media Manager Job Description – Draft for review

Draft has been written by Wil, we need other council members to review. May need to adjust the job title to match the expectations of the role.

This year’s conference will be face to face and higher profile because the Asia-Pacific Regional Internet Governance Forum (https://www.aprigf.au/). NetThing could get lost amongst the much larger conference (plus a third that’s also happening around the same time). LA messaging could get lost.

Motion by Joel Addison that Linux Australia sponsors Net Thing 2023 up to a value of AUD2,500.

Seconded: Neill Cox

Six votes against. Motion fails.

  • VALA TechCamp Sponsorship

Donna Benjamin will be speaking at the conference which will be a good opportunity to promote Linux Australia.

Motion by Joel Addison that Linux Australia sponsor up to AUD2,750 (targeting the Diversity Scholarship Partner)

Seconded: Wil Brown

Passed with 5 ayes and one abstention
