  • Review DrupalSouth proposal for funding

DrupalSouth have submitted a grant request to provide funding towards running a booth at the Public Sector Network Innovation Week NSW 2026. The aim is to build awareness of Drupal and open source amongst attendees of this event, working in conjunction with four Drupal Certified Partner organisations.

Note: This grant proposal did not go through our normal community review process via the mailing list as it was submitted directly to Council. It was reviewed and voted on due to exigent circumstances.

The Council has some concerns that there is a fine line between promoting Drupal as an Open Source project and building the community as opposed to promoting companies working with Drupal. On balance Council believes that this proposal does benefit the community and we are voting on the motion on that basis.

The following requests and questions are asked of DrupalSouth for the proposal:

    • All Community Educational Materials produced should be released under an open licence, ie. CC-BY SA
    • The Community Educational Materials should not have vendors listed on them, to ensure this remains focused on the community and open source software project only
    • It would be good to see the other Reusable Community Assets made freely available for use by the broader open source community
    • How is the reusable material going to be kept for future events?

MOTION: That Linux Australia approves the funding request from DrupalSouth for Exhibition proposal at Public Sector Network Innovation Week NSW 2026 as a community grant, subject to suitable responses to the requests and questions.

Seconded by: Neill
Result: Passed
