Welcome
linux.conf.au is Australia's national Linux conference. lca2005 will be held at the Australian National University in Canberra from Monday April 18 to Saturday April 23, 2005.
linux.conf.au 2005 has finished! linux.conf.au 2006 will be held in Dunedin, New Zealand.
The previous linux.conf.au was in Adelaide in January 2004. You can find details of the conference here.
LCA is one of three major, international, grass-roots open-source conferences world wide. The other two are the Ottawa Linux Symposium (OLS) and Linux Kongress.
The main focus of the conference are keynotes, seminars and tutorials by Linux and open source developers and users. Other forums include miniconfs, BOF meetings, lightning presentations and a poster display.
This is the sixth exciting year of linux.conf.au. The first was called CALU, and was held in Melbourne in 1999. Every year the conference gets bigger and more popular. We have attracted many high profile speakers over the years, such as Rasmus Lerdorf (PHP), Dave Miller (kernel), Rusty Russell (iptables/kmod/kernel), Andrew "Tridge" Tridgell (samba/rsync), Havoc Pennington (GNOME) and Jon "Maddog" Hall to name a few. Linus Torvalds has even turned up a couple of times. You never know what he's going to be dressed in; one year it was a penguin suit, another year speedos.
