this is a level 5 or level 6 Systems Administration position, that includes work on multiple architectures, operating systems, hardwre ranging from embedded systems with less than 1G RAM to serves with 56 cores and a terabyte of RAM.
We run CEPH and pacemaker to maintain a 3-node cluster for high availability LDAP, Mail, DNS, and NFS; we run a continuous integration system that tests on four architectures and maybe a doe different actual processor types, that is integrated with Github actions; we run webservers using mod_python and apache; reverse proxies using NGINX; and provide support for a research group of 40-50 people mostly running Debian desktops, although some use MacOSX, Ubuntu, Centos, or NetBSD.
The job is to support all these people, and to maintain the infrastructure they all rely on.
