Web-Based Enterprise Management - Emerging Management Standard or Buzzword Bingo?

Seminar

WBEM is a set of open standards for managing distributed computing resources designed to replace the ageing SNMP protocol. Utilising the latest fashionable internet protocols, WBEM provides a secure and extensible method for discovering, monitoring and maintaining hetrogeneous systems, networks, applications and services (bingo!). This talk will be an overview of WBEM with an emphasis on the technical details and a discussion of the various open source client and server packages available to do WBEM.

Tim Potter

Tim Potter is a software engineer working for Hewlett-Packard on manageability for Itanium servers running Linux, which is actually much less boring than it sounds. Tim has been involved in Open Source development since 1998 when he made his first commit to the Samba project.
