- Adelaide
Townhall
The Adelaide City Council conducts free guided tours which
introduce you to the interesting architecture and history of the
Adelaide Town Hall. The hour long tour takes you through the Town
Hall's Public Spaces and Civic Rooms, including the Queen Adelaide
Room and the Colonel Light Room.
- National Railway
Museum
The National Railway Museum, houses the largest undercover
collection of locomotives, passenger carriages and freight vehicles in
Australia. All three railway gauges used in Australia are
represented.
- SA Maritime
Museum
Surrounded by the magnificent buildings and streetscapes which
led to much of central Port Adelaide becoming the State's first listed
heritage area, the South Australian Maritime Museum was developed as a
major commemorative project for the 1986 State sesquicentenary.
- SA Aviation Museum
A group of people interested in aviation history and the
restoration of aircraft formed the Museum in 1984. The Museum opened
to the public in a garage behind the former Pier Hotel at Glenelg.
In November 1986 the Museum relocated to the old "SA Lion"
Flourmill in Mundy Street, Port Adelaide.
- University of
SA - Planetarium
The Planetarium offers many advantages over star gazing
outdoors. Outdoor observers must contend with the cold, cloud cover,
unwanted light from streetlights, the moon and the city glow in
general. In the air conditioned dome which seats 45 people in
specially designed chairs, the audience can view all parts of the
artificial sky with comparative ease.

Zoo
Adelaide Zoo was opened to the public on 23rd May 1883. It is
the second oldest zoo in Australia (after Melbourne Zoo, 1862) and was
established at a time of great resurgence and interest in natural
history.

Gardens

- Cleland
Conservation & Wildlife Park
Just 12 kilometres from Adelaide City centre, Cleland
Conservation Park conserves a vital area of natural bushland on the
Adelaide Hills face and includes the internationally popular Cleland
Wildlife Park, the viewing platform of Mt Lofty Summit and scenic
Waterfall Gully. The area has a rich history of Aboriginal occupation
and European settlement.

The Adelaide Festival Centre was established under the Adelaide
Festival Centre Trust Act 1971 and is, as a statutory authority,
charged with the responsibility of encouraging and facilitating
artistic, cultural and performing arts activities throughout the
State.

- Rodney Fox Shark Museum
Rodney Fox's shark museum and nautical gift shop features

- Visit to Glenelg (City of
Holdfast Bay)
Glenelg is Adelaide's most popular beach resort (especially in
the summer). Just a short 10 minute drive from Adelaide, makes
Glenelg the perfect place to stay. There is plenty of accommodation
to choose from including apartments, hostels, hotels and motel
accommodation, and a number of historic places of interest to visit.
One thing that you can't miss is the 'HMS Buffalo', a replica of the
first European settlers ship, who landed in 1836, and proclaims the
state beside an Old Gum Tree.

Cruising
Falie is the last operating trading ketch in South Australia.
She is a working memorial to the hundreds of small ships which carried
grain and cargo throughout the State.

Island

Vehicle Collectors Society
Opened in August 1993 with the principal support of Messenger
Press and Port Adelaide Council this museum is unique number of ways.
The majority of the vehicles are privately owned by the Society
members and therefore each member is responsible for their own
vehicles.
