Linux.conf.au has announced the opening of the call for papers on Friday 4th July 2008, giving the open source software community the chance to present at one of the world's premier technical conferences.
Hobart TAS, Australia-- (4th July 2008) ---- The call for papers will remain open for a month, after which the best papers will be selected by an expert panel.
The elections for the Linux Australia Committee of 2008 have been completed and the results were announced yesterday at the AGM. Thankyou to all those who stood.

WA: 9am
SA/NT: 10:30am
Vic/NSW/Tas: 11am
QLD: 10am
Voting will finish at 00:00 UTC on the 31st of January. Results will be announced at the Linux Australia AGM.

Australia's premier open source event, linux.conf.au, has closed early bird registrations and is on track to selling out, with 2/3 of the tickets already sold.
Each year software developers and users flock from around the globe to attend Linux.conf.au, Australia's annual technical conference about Free and Open Source Software.
"Based on the registrations so far, tickets could sell out prior to the event," said Conference Director Donna Benjamin. "We have a hard limit of 500 tickets this year."
